In this article, the author offers information on the principles of constitutional interpretation and judicial philosophy of the government in the state of Michigan. He examines the state constitutional law adjudication and federal constitutional practices under the direct democracy provisions of the defined in the constitution of Michigan. He discusses the court case United Conservation Clubs v. Secretary of State regarding limitation on the power of referendum.
