- Abstract
This article is a reply to the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology's guidelines on anaphylaxis. The authors suggest that Kounis syndrome (KS), which is an acute coronary syndrome secondary to anaphylaxis, should be included in the clinical picture of anaphylaxis. They explain that KS can present as vasospastic angina, myocardial infarction, stent thrombosis, or stent restenosis, and it is associated with a higher mortality rate compared to anaphylaxis without KS. The authors emphasize the importance of early recognition and management of KS and recommend its inclusion in future guidelines on anaphylaxis.
