- Abstract
The article defines the meaning and application of patient-centered care which consists of several major elements including comprehensive care, coordination of care, timeliness, clear and reliable communication and convenience. The International Association of Patient Organizations (IAPO) Declaration on Patient-Centered Health Care also defines principles for promoting greater patient empowerment. The challenges observed by patients and solutions for the same are also discussed.
