- Abstract
The article reports on local currency schemes in Great Britain, differences between banknotes and local currency instruments and their relevance to the Bank of England's monetary and financial stability objectives, as of January 2014. Topics include evolution of fiat money, local currency schemes of the Bank of England to promote local sustainability, and legal tender. Also mentioned is awareness of customers about the benefits of local currency instruments as compared to banknotes.
