Title
A modern fairy tale.
Abstract
The article discusses the fate of the three chemical companies spun off from German industrial conglomerate IG Farben. The proliferation of competing chemical concerns in the U.S. and the rest of Europe is attributed to the break up of the assets of Hoechst by its owners for financial reward. Bayer is reported to be splitting up a Material Science company apart form its core Healthcare and CropScience. BASF is cited for sticking to its fully-integrated chemical trade.
