The cell was formed using the bacterial synthetic genome of Mycoplasma mycoides in which DNA replication and synthesis were induced. It notes that the researchers applied methylation to protect the DNA of the synthesized cell. It adds that the experiment by the team will further ideas in the development of drugs, chiral chemicals, and fuels.
