Skills shortage - nuclear elephant in the room.
- Authors
Molloy, James
- Abstract
The article focuses on the shortage of skilled employees in the nuclear industry of Great Britain. Based from the findings of the Engineering Construction Industry Association (ECIA), employment in the British nuclear industry dropped by half in 2009 as the global financial crisis took place. It adds that the industry also faces the problem of an ageing workforce. Moreover, Michael Hockey, managing director of ECIA, says that accepting foreign labour does not qualify as a long-term solution.
