- Abstract
The article presents a profile of Lucy Langdon Williams Wilson, doctor and teacher. She was born in St. Albans, Vermont on August 18, 1964. As a little girl she often lived with her grandmother in Rutland. Her interest in nature was aroused in the green mountain county. Wilson had attended Castleton Academy and Normal. She established the first botany laboratory at the Normal in Philadelphia in 1983. In 1984, she opened zoology laboratory and in 183 and in 1895 started nature study in the grades. Later, she went to South Philadelphia to organize the high school for girls. On the year she retired from the South Philadelphia High School, she was a recipient of the 10,000 dollar Bok Award for service rendered in Philadelphia. Wilson's publication included "History Reader for Elementary Grades," "Educating for Responsibility" and "New Schools of New Russia."
