- Abstract
The article focuses on the role of in-service and pre-service education programs for teachers in enabling them to help children in living effectively in a democratic society. Usually teachers do not find themselves easy with science materials and content, they unaware of the ways of applying democratic procedure and scientific methods in dealing with children. The in-service training program for teachers should be designed in such a way that it could help them to understand the community in which they teach. They should be provided simple science books and encouraged to adopt practice teaching in classrooms.
