- Abstract
The research project HaLo-Filter aims to increase the acceptance of energy-efficient residential ventilation systems. A new product, the filter heat exchanger, is to be developed, which combines the heat exchanger and the air filter of a ventilation device. To meet the requirements for the air filter material, an alternative manufacturing process is being developed, in which an endless microfiber multifilament yarn is produced using the island-in-the-sea melt spinning process. The developed microfiber yarn can be used in both the bulked-continuous-filament (BCF) process and the false twist texturing process (FDT/DTY). However, the existing fiber crimping is not sufficient to produce highly porous HaLo filter media. It is planned to submit a follow-up project after the completion of the research project in order to optimize the microfiber crimping.
