- Abstract
The article reports on the announcement by Indian textile company Alok Industries of its plans to maximize its export earnings for the financial years (FY) 2008 and 2009. It is targeting revenues of 1,100 crore Indian rupees for 2008 and 1,500 crore Indian rupees for 2009. The company did not comment on questions pertaining to the weakening demand from the key U.S. market and its potential impact on achieving its export target over the next few quarters. Despite the appreciation of the rupee, the company has shown a strong growth in its export turnover in the first nine months of FY2008. Locally, Alok Industries is increasing its retail network from 20 stores to 125 stores by the end of December 2008.
