- Abstract
The article reports on the pressure put by dwindling prices in the global market due to the increasing use of low-cost, disposable fashion garments on the Indian apparel industry. According to a study conducted by U.S.-based consultant KSA Tecknopak, U.S. buyers of disposable fashion garments from India have started looking for cheaper options from several countries including Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. It is noted that the new trend has impacted the competitiveness of the domestic industry by more than 12 percent.
