- Abstract
The article discusses the cashmere wool industry in Mongolia. The article describes the conditions in which cashmere goats are raised, including the cold winters, hot summers, and dry climate. Details are provided regarding the goat herders' ger tents, the low micron count of the goats wool, and the wool's color quality, tensile strength and purity. Information on the cashmere industry's effect on the Mongolian economy in comparison to the textile economies in China, Afghanistan, and Iran is provided. Also discussed are the textile fibers of mohair, camel hair, Vicuna, and Yak Hair.
