- Abstract
Airway surgeries pose challenges to the anaesthesiologist due to a potentially difficult airway and shared workspace with the surgeons. Apnoeic oxygenation is a technique to increase apnoea time safely during airway surgeries, which can be achieved with multiple devices, one of which is high-flow nasal oxygen (HFNO). Transnasal humidified rapid-insufflation ventilatory exchange (THRIVE) is one of the modes of delivering HFNO. We present an interesting case report wherein THRIVE was incorporated into successful anaesthetic management of an intratracheal tumour located close to the carina almost obliterating the tracheal lumen.
