- Abstract
The formation of human values has been one of the aspects prioritized by the higher education system in Cuba. The Electrical Engineering career of the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas, Cuba, has developed a systemic conception of education based on values, however, there are no studies that analyze its effectiveness or behavior. The objective of the study was to examine the correspondence between the values present in the curriculum of the Electrical Engineering career and those possessed by first and third year students of that specialty. The study was classified as descriptive with a quantitative approach. Theoretical and empirical methods were used to obtain the results. At the theoretical level, the inductive deductive, synthetic analytical and structural systemic methods were applied. At the empirical level, documentary analysis, the survey and the mathematical statistical method were used. The techniques applied were percentage analysis, questionnaire and document review. A statistical analysis was carried out which showed the patterns and tendencies regarding the behavior in the formation of values in the specialty under study. It is concluded that the students' main values are honesty, responsibility, respect and companionship. The research carried out revealed a certain lack of knowledge on the part of the students of the values contained in the curriculum of their specialty.
