- Title
Chemical agents for removing intrinsic stains from vital teeth. I. Technique development.
- Authors
McEvoy, Susan A.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the development in the techniques for removal of intrinsic stains from the enamel or dentin of vital teeth using chemical agents. During the past 70 years, Hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide have been used alone and in combination to modify stains associated with fluorosis, tetracycline, and trauma related injuries. It is reported that the most recent contribution to advancing the hydrogen peroxide based techniques can be found in the book "Bleaching Teeth," by Feinman RA and his colleagues. Hydrochloric acid techniques must be recommended for removing those stains associated with fluorosis because of its long history of success.
