- Authors

- Abstract
This article explores the top 5 reasons why physician assistants (PAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) pursue career changes. The reasons include burnout and compassion fatigue, a desire for progress and broadened skill sets, evolving technology and new healthcare trends, lifestyle and family considerations, and economic considerations and job satisfaction. PAs and NPs may seek alternative career paths that offer better work-life balance, reduced stress, and a renewed sense of purpose. They may also transition to roles in healthcare administration, research, teaching, pharmaceuticals, medical writing, or medical chart review. The decision to pursue a career change is influenced by personal and professional factors, and there are many opportunities available for PAs and NPs to contribute to healthcare in innovative ways.
