This article reviews the implications of heritable thrombophilias for pregnancy. It explores the relationship between thrombophilias and the risk for venous thromboembolism. It suggests to conduct thrombophilia testing with available counseling and explanation of both positive and negative results. In addition, the article discusses the effect of the disease on fetal growth.
