- Abstract
Object To investigate the relationship between serum miR-18a level and hyperfunction of hypothalamic- pituitary-adrenal(HPA)axis in patients with depression. Methods The subjects were divided into depression group and nor- mal control group. The serum levels of miR-18a,corticotropin releasing hormone(CRH),adreno-cortico-tropic-hormone (ACTH)and corticosterone(CORT)were detected by using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reactioin and radioimmu- noassay, respectively. Results Compared with normal control group, the serum levels of miR-18a,CRH,ACTH and CORT of depression group were increased significantly(P<0.05). There were significantly positive correlations between the level of miR- 18a in serum and the levels of CRH,ACTH and COKT in serum of patients with depression(P<0.05). Conclusion The ex- pression of miR-18a in serum and activity of HPA axis in patients with depression might be increased significantly. There could be significantly positive correlation between the level of miR-18a in serum and hyperfunction of HPA axis in patients with de- pression.
