- Abstract
Because the student body considers research as a tedious process, the thesis is considered a difficult experience that they must face in order to graduate; Thus, the objective of this study is to explore the knowledge and motives that the students of a Mexican public university possess to carry out a thesis, and for this a quantitative and non-experimental study was carried out. 129 Mexican students of different grade levels participated with an average age of 20.53. It was found that the number of subjects on research methodology taken the first three years of undergraduate is scarce, contrary to the last years of undergraduate; finally, it was found that the predominant motives for doing the thesis are psychological factors and future utility.
