- Abstract
The article focuses on a study which describes the method used to evaluate the progress of children in four cerebral palsy units in public schools in New York City during the school year 1952-1953. The Department of Health and Board of Education in the city jointly operate these special school units to provide education, health services and special therapy for educable children who are too severely handicapped physically to attend regular or orthopedic classes in public schools. The functional status and improvements of children at beginning and end of school year are discussed.
