In addition, bitumen envelops mineral particles with a thin bitumen film, and, by filling the voids between them, does not allow moisture particles to penetrate into asphalt concrete, giving mineral particles hydrophobic properties. Asphalt concrete based on a polymer-bitumen binder nanomodified with carbon nanotubes for road and airfield construction Based on the significant role that bitumen plays in asphalt concrete, it seems quite logical that the issues of improving the quality of asphalt concrete are often considered from the standpoint of improving the performance characteristics of the bitumen binder.
