- Abstract
Professor Mustafa Aydın Aysan probably was one of the first persons bringing a broad vision to the accounting education in Turkey and making great efforts to bring accounting practices of his country closer to the practices of developed countries. Aysan was born in Tarsus in 1933, after graduating from Istanbul University, the School of Economics in 1957 he started his career as an academician in the School of Economics, following his return to Turkey from Harvard Business School where he completed his master's degree in 1959. Aysan worked as an academician both in Istanbul University School of Business and in the Graduate School of Business until the year 2000 when he retired. He was one of the academicians to use the case method for the first time. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aysan stands out as an academician who introduced many accounting reforms in Turkey, pioneered the change from science to practice and made precious contributions to the understanding of Turkish accounting. Prof. Aysan's activities in the second half of the 20th century will be a guide for accounting academicians and practicing accountants in the early period of the 21st century.
