- Title
Clinician Mindfulness and Patient Safety.
- Authors
Sibinga, Erica M. S.; Wu, Albert W.
- Abstract
In the article the authors explain how medical errors can be prevented through increased clinical mindfulness. They point out that diagnostic errors often result from cognitive biases or cognitive dispositions to respond (CDR). On the other hand, they argue that increased mindfulness promote greater knowledge and understanding of a person's experiences, such as thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations. They reference the findings of several studies.
