- Authors
NEILSON, SHANE
- Abstract
The article critiques several poems including "The Child Dying" by Edwin Muir, "Night Thoughts Over a Sick Child" by Philip Levine and "Lullaby" by W.H. Auden. Particular focus is given to the poems' themes of parents' experiencing their child's death and caring for their sick children. The role that poetry plays for parents in grieving for the loss of their children, including the putative beauty that poetry captures of this experience, is discussed.
