- Abstract
Torsion of the appendix epiploica is a rare cause of acute abdominal pain. A 35-year-old woman came to the emergency room with acute abdominal pain, mild fever, and left lower quadrant abdominal tenderness with rebound signs. Pelvic ultrasound revealed a left ovarian cyst. Preoperative diagnosis was torsion of an ovarian cyst. Explorative laparoscopy revealed a functional ovarian cyst and a torted appendix epiploica of the rectosigmoid. The appendix epiploica was removed laparoscopically. A thorough bowel examination is recommended in every explorative laparoscopy. (J GYNECOL SURG 12:65, 1996)
