- Abstract
Introduction: Odontomas are benign lesions of odontogenic origin, characterized as cellular differentiations with enamel, dentin and pulp formation stages, found more frequently in the maxilla and are discovered through radiographic examinations, using tomography as a complementary exam. They can be divided into composite, complex and mixed. The nasopalatine duct cyst is considered a cyst of non-odontogenic origin, presents intraosseous development, having its origin from the remnants of the nasopalatine duct. Clinical and radiographic examinations are essential for planning the treatment of this lesion, but only the histopathological examination will provide the definitive diagnosis. The treatment indicated for these two injuries is the surgical technique. Objective: To present a clinical case involving surgical treatment of odontomas and nasopalatine duct cyst. Case report: A clinical case of an adult patient who presented, radiographically, an odontoma and a nasopalatine cyst was presented, in which the enucleation and curettage technique was performed. Conclusion: The nasopalatine duct cyst, one of the most frequent non-odontogenic cysts, presents difficulty in diagnosis. The lack of knowledge of the etiopathogenesis of the nasopalatine duct cyst can result in misdiagnosis and treatment. Odontoma is a benign odontogenic tumor that often affects the maxillomandibular complex. Early diagnosis of odontoma, as well as a conservative surgical intervention, is advisable in order to preserve dental tissues, avoiding inconvenience to the patient, such as occlusal and aesthetic problems. The surgical procedure presents great complexity and precision.
