- Abstract
The article discusses the compliance issues that may arise in pharmacy networks and identifies the issues that Medicare Part D plan sponsors need to consider when developing an effective fraud, waste and abuse program. Plan sponsors should schedule onsite audits to determine noncompliance. Some operational issues to consider by plan sponsors are notification of beneficiaries, reporting of fraud to the Medical, Environmental, Disease Intelligence and Countermeasures (MEDIC) and claims processing.
