How safe does transgenic food need to be?
- Authors
DeFrancesco, Laura
- Abstract
The article focuses on the assessment of the safety of transgenic crops. The U.S. forms a tripartite regulatory process intended for transgenic crops for human consumption. It points out the potential of increased allergenicity due to food consumption alteration. Genetically modified organism proponents and critics agree on the failure of genetically modified foods to produce adverse health effects. It also notes the uncertainty and risk of transgenic product safety.
