- Abstract
The article discusses the chromatic control element (CCE) patent landscape that shows intellectual property strategies of biopharmaceutical companies. It cites the conventional approach to obtain cell lines by using stable expression systems that are based on chromosomal integration by transfection into host cells. It also notes the increased number of patent filings for CCE technologies by industrial applicants from 1998 to 2003 and the return of the public sector in 2005 with applicants of up to 50% from academic bodies.
