Antagonizing metastasis.
- Authors

- Abstract
The authors comment on a study discussed within the journal about the feasibility and therapeutic efficacy of targeting a prometastatic microRNA with antagomirs. A review of the related literature is offered. The mechanism of action of antagomir, an antisense RNA oligonucleotide, is described by the authors. The authors argue that the antagomir therapy used in the study was limited in the sense that it did not affect the growth of lung metastases once the tumor cells had already penetrated the lung tissue.
