- Abstract
The article presents a study on the implications of carbon amendments on the growth and reproduction of prairie plants in restoration in Illinois. The study utilized a black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) plants that are treated with five carbon amendments including sawdust and sugar, aged straw, and leaf mold. The results showed that black-eyed Susan plants in the sawdust and sugar treatment have lower growth and reproductive output compared to other carbon amendments.
