- Abstract
An essay is presented on the intersection of the Hollywood film "Marty" with the social history of Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, New York City, in the 1950s. The author examines the film from a historical perspective by discussing the themes of the film as they relate to the Bronx. It also discusses how the film explores the socioeconomic changes associated with the Bronx's urban decline.
