- Abstract
The article focuses on the changes made to improve the organic chemistry research writing of the sophomore students in the Department of Chemistry at Seattle University in Seattle, Washington. Students have been observed for their incapacity to write professional research works on organic chemistry. The writing incapacity of students has led to the elimination of laboratory reports and replaced with scientific paper. The redesign on laboratory, the development of sequence of assignments and the teaching of the real genre were some of the changes implemented to help students create a scientific paper.
