- Abstract
The article focuses on the role of metabolic surgery in restoration of hepatic glucose metabolism. Topics discussed include new treatment option for obesity-related type-two diabetes (T2DM) in patients with lower body mass index (BMI), metabolic responses induced by vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) in rats decreases the hepatic gluconeogenesis, and positron emission tomography (PET) along with 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) enables direct observation of hepatic glucose metabolism.
