- Abstract
The article focuses on the issues regarding the meaning of section 14A of the Acts Interpretation Act 1954 of Queensland and the scope of purposive statutory interpretation in Queensland. It mentions effect of section 14A(1) does not create or extend criminal liability and how penal provisions in a statute have been dealt with at common law and under legislation. It also mentions interpretation best represents the intention of the Queensland Parliament.
