- Authors
Myrick, Amy; Nelson, Robert L.; Nielsen, Laura Beth
- Abstract
The article shows that minority plaintiffs in employment discrimination lawsuits are much more likely than white plaintiffs to file without a lawyer with the help of a statistical analysis. It presents interviews with African American plaintiffs and lawyers with aim to find reasons for this pattern and tries to expand on consequences from the plaintiffs' viewpoint. It explores the implications of racial disparities in pro se filings and suggests policy solutions.
