- Authors
Koivula, John I.
- Abstract
The article presents the result of an examination of two spodumene crystals mined from Kala, Darre Pech, Kunar Province, Afghanistan. While the 25.0-millimeter-long transparent spodumene crystal extended from a matrix of K-feldspar, the other 71.2-millimeter-long spodumene appeared to be an etched dislocation pattern extending through its entire length. Further magnification of the latter specimen shows that the etched dislocation had more of a fern-like or blade-like spiral pattern to it. There was also a post-growth deposits within the crystal.
