An Old Sea Prophet.
- Authors
Traina III, Dominic J.
- Abstract
The article offers information about the naval dominance proposed by sea prophet Alfred Mahan in the U.S. in the late 1800s. It demonstrates the relationship between globalization and sea power which should not be overlooked by the country. Mahan claims to invent "sea power" to gain national attention for his approach. He points out that the approach puts emphasis on the command of sea through naval superiority and the combination of overseas possessions, maritime commerce, and foreign market privileges.
