- Abstract
The article focuses on the court jurisdiction of the European Union (EU) with respect to legal cases involving sports. It refers to the judgment of European court in relation to the court case between the gaming and Entertainment Company and the German state, Carmen Media Group Ltd v Land Schleswig-Holstein, with regard to betting on sports competitions. It discusses several law provisions of EU's in relation to Carmen Media Group Ltd case including imprisonment of more than two years owing to organizing of game of chance publicly, imprisonment of three to five years in case of commercial motives, and obtaining of authorization by a betting association in case of betting on horse race.
