- Abstract
The author reflects on strategies that clinicians can implement when dealing with laconic patients such as rugby players and rodeo riders who have sustained a sporting injury. Downplaying their problems, these type of patients may simply say their shoulders hurt even when it turns out to be a glenohumeral dislocation after asking a few key questions. Since history taking supplies 80% of diagnostic information, a clinician should spend time on this aspect while the patient is being examined. High-technology imaging should only be used for elusive cases.
