- Abstract
The authors report the largest published experience with PTFE H-grafts in the portacaval position. Cumulative late patency of 8- and 10-mm grafts has been 97%, but acute perioperative thromboses have occurred in 15%. Perioperative thromboses are currently managed nonoperatively by using angiographic intervention. Comparing their long-term results with those of dacron grafts in the portal system, the authors conclude that PTFE is a superior prosthetic conduit.
