- Abstract
A new procedure for the revascularization of the celiac arterial system is presented. The operation consists of the following steps: a) Exposure of the lower thoracic aorta through a lateral thoracotomy incision and anastomosing an 8-mm knitted Dacron prosthesis end-to-side to it. b) Entering the abdominal cavity through the diaphragm, removing the spleen while carefully preserving the integrity of the proximal splenic artery. c) Performing a "horn" arterioplasty on the splenic artery and anastomosing it end-to-end to the already inserted Dacron prosthesis. This way the entire celiac arterial system can be satisfactorily perfused via the synthetic graft and (retrograde) through the splenic artery.
