- Authors
Papanikolaou, Eftychia
- Abstract
The article discusses the late Masses of Joseph Haydn in between the traditional and contemporary versions. By the end of the 18th century, Viennese composers have formulated a hybrid music style known as the concerted mass, which has symphonic musical language and formal guidelines. The list presented lists six late masses of Joseph Haydn including "Missa in tempore belli in C," "Missa (Harmoniemesse) in B flat," and "Missa Sancti Bernardi von Offida in B flat." These masses were meant for the name-day celebrations of Princess Marie Hermenegild.
