Dronedarone reduces first hospitalizations but not mortality in high-risk patients.
- Abstract
The article reports on the result of the study which assesses the impact of dronedarone on patients suffering from atrial fibrillation. The study was participated by 4,628 patients with atrial fibrillation and cardiovascular diseases and were randomized to receive placebo or 400 milligrams of the drug twice a day. It was found that hospitalizations declined in patients taking the drug. However, it failed to prevent mortality.
