- Authors
Wójcik, Zbigniew
- Abstract
The article provides information on the role of Polish prior Augustyn Kordecki in the 1655 defense of the Jasna Góra Monastery in Poland against Swedish forces, with the author largely attempting to dispel the notion that the monk acted treacherously. The author engages in a largely historiographic discussion, documenting the development of the notion that Kordecki was a traitor among various historians. The roles of Swedish King Charles X Gustav and Polish King John II Casimir in the siege of the monastery and its defense are explained.
