- Abstract
This article offers methods and ways for teachers to effectively implement English language learners (ELLs) lessons. It provides the background for ELLs studies in the U.S. and why it continues to be relevant and important. The planning methods for ELL instruction include the need to determine the ELLs' language-proficiency status, to set both content and language targets together, and to pair background knowledge and science teaching together. The main methods for science instruction are also discussed.
