- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of the American prison policy on the economy in the U.S. It highlights the notion that the country has the largest prison population in the world and recidivism rates continue to increase. It cites the three key barriers to employment that affect prisoners, namely, lack of education, racial discrimination, and drug addiction. Meanwhile, it suggests the need for the American prison system to have substantial reforms.
