- Title
Fitze, M. (2006). Discourse and Participation in ESL Face-to-Face and Written Electronic Conferences.
- Abstract
The article presents the results of a case study on comparative investigation of students' participation in communication. The study compared both face-to-face communication and written electronic communication of students of English as a Second Language (ESL). The article describes that in the study, students were split into groups and given writing assignments. The analysis of the results revealed that one group had more balanced participation in the electronic medium. Another group had a balanced participation in both communicative settings. The article notes that study's findings may have some implications on the ESL teaching and further research.
