- Abstract
Among those precepts present in Brasilia's conception and strategic decisions taken at the time of its implementation, the preference for low densities and the adoption of settlements dispersed in the territory left profound marks in its growth. Demographic densification, especially, has been anathema, the more denigrated when associated with higher buildings. The results are visible in the metropolitan extension and in the disproportionate distances between urbanized areas. However, the escalation of land values has ended up imposing its logic. Today, a process of verticalization is underway, precisely in neighborhoods less able to withstand the impacts of the new built mass and the concomitant increase in population. Here are considered some factors that contributed to such condition.
